MLM recruiting is a gateway skill, and it is the highest paid skill in network marketing.
When it comes to building a network marketing business, companies go one of two ways.
Some companies make provide a clear system or guide for her distributors, while others provide no system at all.
There are advantages and disadvantages to both.
Following The System
Some companies provide a system for their distributors and they don’t want their distributors to change anything on the system.
If your company does this, it might be a disservice and I will tell you why.
If you are simply following a plan and trying to force yourself to perfection, you might just be trying to copycat what works for other people.
What works for other people might not work for you.
A generic system may not work for everyone and by forcing everyone in the company to follow a particular system may not give room for creativity.
This will make it become extremely difficult for people to work with you because not everybody wants to build a business the same way everyone else is doing it.
It is good to have systems in place for those who are just getting started in the business to some extent because they provide some simple action steps to follow to get results.
However, following a simple set of steps will never give you the momentum to get to the top in your company especially when you are using systems that don’t match your personality.
And if you are building a business with systems and strategies that don’t match your personality, your business will suffer.
Building A Business Without A System
It can be very challenging when you are working with a company that doesn’t provide her new distributors with a clear system to follow.
If you are brand new to the industry, you need some steps to follow to gain some level of success.
Network marketers who are more advanced and experienced can join a company without a system and still go-ahead to build a successful business.
The most important thing is to become someone who can build your business with or without a system, but most people hardly teach about this.
Here are my three tips for building any business, whether they provide a system to follow or not.
Tip #1. Learn Marketing
Marketing is a skill you must learn if you are going to build your network marketing business online.
Some people say personal development is key to success in business. well, it is part of it but it is not the most important thing. The most important thing that you can learn to move your business forward is marketing.
You must learn how to market yourself, your product and opportunity the right way and to the right people at the right time.
When you have good marketing skills, it will give you an unfair advantage over your competitors when it comes to MLM recruiting.
Those who are successful in network marketing today simply did something that gave them good results, then everyone else decided to copy what they did.
This eventually became a system and they want others to start using it because it works.
That is what marketing knowledge can do for you.
You could also be the one showing others how to do a thing once you’ve tried it and gotten results.
Don’t be afraid to try out new marketing strategies. If you want to be that person that leads and others follow, you must be MAD (Make A Difference) and stand out from the crowd.
Choose one area of marketing and learn everything that you can about it until you become a master at it.
A great place to start from is social media marketing.
Social media marketing is a broad topic and you can decide to learn about Facebook ads, Facebook Lives, building engaging Facebook groups, etc.
Other areas you could focus on are copywritting, list building, email marketing, online recruiting, and so on.
Pick one for a start and keep learning about it until you become a pro at it, then teach your downlines how to do it and create duplication in your business.
TIP #2. Build Relationships
Theodore Roosevelt says ‘’nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care’’
This statement is absolutely true when it comes to building a business. People will only buy from or join someone that they know, like and trust.
The reason why you are asked to approach your warm market first when you are brand new in network marketing is that you have some form of relationship with those people.
They already know, like and trust you enough to listen to you.
It makes it easier to speak to them first to gain some confidence.
But when it comes to building your business online, most people don’t know you yet because they are cold prospects.
In order to make them do business with you, you must turn them into warm prospects and get them to know like and trust you.
And the best way I know of that you can do this is through your social media posts.
Social media is a great place to share things about yourself and educate people about what you do.
Even if your posts aren’t getting much engagement, people are watching what you post. Your post will make them decide whether or not they want to do business with you.
In addition, you need to be engaging with other people’s posts as well. You only get out what you put in.
Don’t be that person that hangs on Facebook to read every valuable post and just scroll down without dropping a valuable comment or hitting the ‘’like’’ button. Don’t be stingy with ‘’likes’’ and ‘’comments’’, use them.
Even if you are having a conversation with people via the phone, email or messenger chat, always let them know you care about them.
Ask them questions about their work, life and, family. Show empathy where necessary and don’t be in a haste to pitch your business.
Ask them what they do. For how long have they been doing it? Do they enjoy what they do? Will what they are currently doing give them their dream life? Are they open to a project that won’t distract what they are currently doing if it’s going to give them their dream lifestyle?
Questions like these will help you to know if the prospect is open to building a side business. If they are, you simply lead them to a solution which is your business opportunity.
You can send them your company’s video presentation, a PDF file or an invitation for a webinar.
This process takes time because you are actually building a relationship.
You can’ t walk into a mall and propose marriage to a woman you’ve just met, you need to first say ‘’hello’’, introduce yourself, get to know her name, get her phone number, call her later to say hello and know how she is doing. Invite her for a dinner, let her know about your intentions and so on.
That is the exact same process that needs to be applied in your relationship building with prospects online. This will make your MLM recruiting online easier.
TIP #3. Give Value
Someone sent me a message on Whatsapp yesterday telling me to join one of those Ponzi schemes with 1k and make 300k in 2 months. Funny enough, I don’t even know who the person is.
I simply asked the person ‘’why should I join you?’’
The person went ahead and sent another message with a link to his/her Whatsapp group.
He/she emphasized the need for me to join immediately because hundreds of people were also receiving the same message from him/her.
This means the group was going to fill up fast, so I will have an advantage by registering early.
I replied the person that s/he has not answered my question, and the person went mute.
My intention was to educate the person after he/she responded though.
Why am I telling you this?
This is what so many people do on social media when recruiting for their MLM business, and that is not online MLM recruiting.
Hence the person is aware I am part of his target market, imagine if the person had sent me an eBook titled ‘’ How To Make Prospects Beg To Join Your MLM Business’’ or a link to a blog post or Facebook post he/she wrote titled ‘’3 Ways To Get Your Prospects Attention On Facebook’’.
What do you think will happen? I will simply click on the link to learn how I can download the eBook and consume the contents or click to read the social media or blog post because I want to get value.
People are not interested in your business opportunity, their WIIFM (What’s In It For Me) is always turned on.
They want to know what they will benefit from you and how you can help them get better results in their life and business.
There are so many people out there promoting the same opportunity and products just like you, but the only thing that will make you different is the value you have to offer them through your contents either on social media, on your blog, via email or whatever means you use to reach your target audience.
People don’t join me because they want to join a network marketing company.
Some people think my network marketing company is already saturated, but I let them know that no market is saturated because people will join you for YOU and not because of the company.
People join me because of the value I have to offer them.
Don’t make it about yourself, always think of how you can offer value to your prospects and make them get to know, like and trust you.
When you attend a webinar, read a book, listen to a podcast or watch a video and you learn something new, create contents and share it where your target audience can see it.
If you are in the weight loss industry and your target audience are women in their 30s who wants to lose weight, you can create contents and teach them the best meals to eat and the best exercises they need to engage in to help them stay fit and sexy.
If you are in the beauty industry and your target audience are women who wants to look good, create contents on the latest make-up techniques or how the can apply certain make-up to get the desired results.
If you are in the health and wellness industry, you can create contents and teach people how to live a healthy and happy life.
You want to target network marketers in general, you can create contents and teach them how to build their network marketing business. (This is what I do and recommend)
